This is, by far, my favorite Americanized Chinese restaurant in Maine. I come here every time I'm in town.

Went to dinner last night at Kwong Lee Chinese Restaurant in Pittsfield. The place hadn't changed much since the last time I ate there (back in 2008 when I worked in Pittsfield). I ordered my favorite - General Tso's Chicken (medium spicy, no MSG). It came with Pork Fried Rice and Chicken Fingers (a little redundant, but they were good) and was priced at $10.95. All of the other dinner combination plates were $9.95, which I don't think is unreasonable given the portion size and quality of the food. The waitress was pleasant and very accommodating, the food arrived quickly and it was delicious. Portion sizes are very generous - my dining companion couldn't finish his meal, so he took the rest home in a doggy bag. Back when Kwong Lee first opened (maybe 10 years or so ago) the General Tso's Chicken came with a "forest" of perfectly cooked broccoli (steamed, but still crunchy) and last night I only got two pieces with my order. That, and the fact that I couldn't substitute anything for the chicken fingers is why I only gave them 4 stars, otherwise it's a 5 star place. I'll definitely go back again since I think their food is head and shoulders above the other two Chinese restaurants in the Pittsfield/Newport area.

Visiting Maine and this is our local go to place for Chinese food. Small dining room that was very cold but weather was bitter outside so understandable but warmed up over time. Luncheon specials were very large and prices exceptionally reasonable for all the food you get. Tea could have been hotter and replenished more often but the meal was excellent so easy to overlook the tea. Highly recommend for eat in or take out as food consistently good.

Pretty delicious take out...shrimp wasn't overcooked which was great! A little on the expensive side though.
